On July 28, 2025, just before sunrise in the Throggs Neck section of the Bronx, 22-year-old Gabriel Alvarez, a Black man from Stratford, Connecticut, was gunned down in the parking lot by Ferry Point Park near Schley Avenue and Brush Avenue.
