Andre J. Johnson, a 42-year-old male, was a resident of Independence, Missouri, remembered by friends and family as a loving and outgoing individual who worked as a truck driver, cook, and welder. In mid-May 2025, Johnson became the victim of a homicide in Independence. The fatal event, which occurred on or about May 14, 2025, resulted from a shooting incident that claimed his life.
Following an investigation into the shooting, the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office filed criminal
charges against a suspect identified as Jadon T. Stumph. Authorities charged Stumph with murder in the second degree, alleging that he intentionally caused serious physical injury to Johnson by shooting him with a deadly weapon, which ultimately led to Johnson's death. In addition to the murder charge, Stumph faced counts of armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a firearm.
Court documents revealed that Stumph was prohibited from possessing a weapon due to a prior felony conviction for robbery in the second degree in Clay County, Missouri, in June 2015. The charges filed against him indicated that he knowingly possessed a. 40 caliber handgun at the time of the shooting. If convicted of the second-degree murder charge, Stumph would be subject to a significant prison sentence and would not be eligible for parole until serving eighty-five percent of his term.
