In the early hours of May 18, 2025, 19-year-old Luis Carlos Ortiz was discovered dead in a car that had crashed into the wall of a home on the 900 block of 23rd Street NW in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Responding officers determined that the driver, identified later as Luis Carlos Ortiz, had died before the crash; homicide detectives called to the scene found evidence indicating he had been shot.
