In early March of 2018, the life of 35-year-old Larry Lamont Phillips was tragically cut short in Albuquerque, New Mexico. His body was discovered on March 6, 2018, near the I-40 frontage road just west of the city. The Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office immediately launched a homicide investigation into the male's death.
The investigation revealed a sinister plot that led to Phillips' murder. Authorities determined that he had been drugged and kidnapped by at least two individuals.
He was then driven to a remote area off Interstate 40, a place referred to as Lost Horizon. It was there that his life was taken in a brutal act of violence. Phillips was shot seven times at point-blank range, and his body was left to be found days later.
The subsequent investigation led to the identification and arrest of suspects involved in the crime. One of the men, Stephen Paschall, was ultimately convicted of first-degree murder, kidnapping, and other charges related to Phillips' death. In December 2022, a jury found him guilty for his role in the heinous crime. Another man, Kevin Geier, was also implicated in the drugging and kidnapping of Phillips.
In June of 2023, Stephen Paschall received a sentence of life in prison plus an additional 42 years for the murder of Larry Phillips. The sentencing judge remarked on the senselessness of the killing and stated a disbelief in Paschall's remorse for his actions. The resolution of the court case brought a measure of justice for a life taken too soon.
