In the late hours of a Monday night in Trenton, New Jersey, a dispute between two groups in the area of Covert Alley escalated into deadly violence. On July 14, 2025, just before midnight, the sound of gunfire shattered the night on the 600 block of North Clinton Avenue. When police arrived, they discovered two men who had been shot.
One of the victims was Shalynn Richardson, a 43-year-old male.
Both he and the other man were urgently transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center for their injuries. Despite the efforts of medical staff, Richardson succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced dead a short time after arriving at the hospital. The condition of the second man who was shot was not publicly disclosed.
In the aftermath of the shooting, the Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Trenton Police Department launched an investigation into the fatal confrontation. Authorities have not yet made any arrests in connection with the shooting, and the specific motive behind the altercation remains unclear.
