In the late summer of 2022, the life of 34-year-old Chron 'Crocc' Jenks was tragically cut short. A lifelong resident of the Ewing-Trenton, New Jersey area, Jenks was a man known for his comical nature and his love for spending time with family and friends. He was a graduate of Ewing High School and the Hudson Electrical Institute, and was the owner of Jenks Global, LLC.
On the evening of Sunday, September 11, 2022, police were called to a sidewalk on Garfield Avenue in Trenton where they found Jenks with a gunshot wound to his chest. He was rushed to the Capital Health Regional Medical Center, but succumbed to his injuries a short time later.
The investigation into the shooting death of Chron Jenks was carried out by the Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Trenton Police Department. For months, detectives worked to piece together the events that led to the fatal shooting. Their efforts culminated in February 2023 with the arrest of a suspect. Trayvon Stokes, a 31-year-old man from Trenton, was taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder and several weapons offenses in connection with Jenks' death.
During the execution of a search warrant at Stokes' residence, another man, 34-year-old Breeyon Jones, was present and also taken into custody. A handgun was recovered from Jones' bedroom, leading to his arrest on a charge of being a certain person not to possess a weapon. While Jones was arrested at the scene of the primary suspect's apprehension, the charges announced against Stokes directly linked him to the killing of Chron Jenks, bringing a measure of progress in a case that had left a family and community mourning the loss of a loved one.
