On the evening of July 8, 2025, police officers in St. Louis, Missouri, were dispatched to the Greater Ville neighborhood following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival in the 3100 block of Vine Grove Avenue, they discovered the lifeless body of 19-year-old Andrew Klaus lying on the ground near a white SUV that had been set on fire. The young male from Imperial, Missouri, had sustained a fatal puncture wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.
While the discovery initially appeared to be an isolated incident of violence, investigators soon unraveled a complex web of crimes connecting his death to another murder committed just hours earlier in a nearby suburb.
Detectives linked Klaus to the assassination of Kcoree Warren, a father who had been shot to death in his Ferguson home earlier that same afternoon. According to prosecutors, Klaus had been recruited as a hitman to silence Warren, who was a key witness in a statutory rape case involving his teenage daughter. Earlier in the year, Warren had reported the assault to police, leading to charges against a man named Lavor Harmon. As the legal case against Harmon progressed, efforts were made to suppress Warren’s testimony, including a failed attempt by Harmon's sister to bribe him with $12,000. When Warren refused the money, the conspiracy escalated to lethal violence.
Authorities allege that on the day of the murders, Klaus traveled to Warren's residence on Bayview Drive and fatally shot him before fleeing the scene in the white SUV. However, the plot took a grim turn shortly after the hit was carried out. Investigators believe that Klaus's co-conspirators—Lavor Harmon, his uncle Anthony L. Young, and his cousin Anthony D. Young—turned on him to sever the link between themselves and the murder of Warren. Klaus was driven to the Vine Grove Avenue location, where he was executed, and the getaway vehicle was torched in an attempt to destroy evidence.
In the wake of the violence, a grand jury indicted Lavor Harmon, Anthony L. Young, and Anthony D. Young on charges including two counts of first-degree murder, armed criminal action, and knowingly burning or exploding property. Lavor Harmon faced additional charges related to the original sexual assault case, while his sister, Lavonda Harmon, was charged with tampering with a witness for her role in the bribery attempt. The investigation described a brutal cycle where a young man was used as a tool for vengeance and subsequently discarded by those who had hired him, leaving two families grieving in the aftermath of the coordinated attacks.
