Death by Force

Devontae Crockett, 18, a Black male from Hattiesburg, Mississippi, died on June 24, 2025, after he was shot during the early morning hours in Forrest County. Deputies with the Forrest County Sheriff’s Office were called to a residence in the 7000 block of U.S. 49, where they found Crockett suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead later that day. His identity and age were confirmed by the county coroner that evening.
