In the late afternoon of Wednesday, May 21, 2025, a burst of gunfire shattered the quiet of the 4000 block of Clark Street in Alexandria, Louisiana. When Alexandria Police Department officers arrived at the scene around 5:30 PM, they found that three individuals had been struck by bullets. Among them was 17-year-old Corey Brooks, a male student at Alexandria Senior High School. All three victims were rushed to a local hospital for treatment.
While two of the individuals sustained moderate injuries, Corey's wounds proved to be far more severe.
Tragically, on the afternoon of Thursday, May 22, 2025, Corey Brooks succumbed to his injuries. The community was left to mourn the loss of a young man with a promising future. Born on February 4, 2008, Corey was known as a dedicated student with entrepreneurial dreams. He had already launched his own T-shirt business, a testament to his creative and determined spirit. His death marked a profound loss for his family, friends, and the Alexandria Senior High School community.
The Alexandria Police Department swiftly launched a homicide investigation into the shooting. Their efforts led to the arrest of 20-year-old Tre'Quan Stanley. He is facing serious charges, including one count of criminal conspiracy to commit armed robbery, one count of principal to second-degree murder, and one count of accessory after the fact to second-degree murder. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to seek information from the public to identify and apprehend two additional suspects believed to be involved in the fatal shooting.
