On the evening of Monday, August 4, 2025, Joshua Darnell Brewer, a 26-year-old Black male, completed his shift at the Greenwood Walmart and made a stop at a neighboring vape shop. As he sat in his car, shots were fired, and he was gravely wounded. Emergency services rushed him to a local hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of Tuesday, August 5.
