Michael Richard Powers, a 42-year-old male, was White. Before dawn on May 28, 2025, he was shot in the area of Riverview Drive and East Paterson Street in Kalamazoo after police were flagged down and 911 callers reported gunfire. Officers arrived just after 1:30 a.m. and found Michael Richard Powers with wounds to the head and abdomen; CPR began at the scene, and he was rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3:16 a.m.
