Kinsley Prinsen, a 2-year-old White female, died in Minneapolis on June 9, 2025. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner recorded the place of injury and death as a home at 2939 Colfax Avenue North and listed the manner of death as homicide caused by a gunshot wound to the head at approximately 12:20 a.m.
Police were called to the 2900 block of Colfax Avenue North just after midnight and found Kinsley and a man in his 50s dead inside the residence.
Local reports identified the man as her father, Scott Joseph Devery. Officials said the father fatally shot his daughter and then took his own life; Kinsley’s mother, Trisha Prinsen, was present in the home. In interviews and a public fundraiser noted by local media, she described a sudden mental health crisis that escalated into them being held in the house before the shooting.
Authorities classified Kinsley’s death as a homicide and Devery’s as a suicide. Because the suspected perpetrator died at the scene, there were no arrests. Minneapolis police asked anyone with additional information to contact investigators, but the case was described as a suspected murder-suicide with no outstanding suspects.
