In the late afternoon of June 13, 2025, Thomas Jerrell Washington, a 26-year-old male from Pontiac, Michigan, was the victim of a fatal drive-by shooting near the intersection of Auburn Avenue and Russell Street in his hometown. Witnesses reported that a man in a gray vehicle fired multiple shots before driving away. First responders found Washington with gunshot wounds to his wrist and back. He was transported to a local hospital with a weak pulse but ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Just hours after the shooting, authorities arrested 32-year-old Tremaine Jevon Love during a traffic stop in West Bloomfield Township. An investigation connected Love to the shooting, with detectives finding multiple casings at the scene. Love, a Pontiac resident, has been charged with first-degree murder, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, and two counts of second-offense felony firearm. He was arraigned and is being held without bond in the Oakland County Jail.
Thomas Jerrell Washington, known affectionately by nicknames such as “TJ,” “Pork Chop,” and “T. Kruger,” was born in Pontiac on July 1, 1998. A father to three children, he was also a gifted artist with a passion for music, photography, and comedy. He had earned an associate degree in Digital Media from Specs Howard School of Media Arts and was working on a rap album while building his brand, FET – Family Eats Together. His family and friends remember him for his witty sayings, quick smile, and the joy he brought to those around him.
