On June 13, 2025, just after 4 p.m., 26-year-old Thomas Jerrell Washington, a male, was struck by gunfire in a drive-by at Auburn Avenue and Russell Street in Pontiac. Witnesses described a gray car gliding past as shots cracked the summer air, and when deputies reached the intersection they found Thomas Jerrell Washington with wounds to his wrist, torso, and back. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where the 26-year-old male died of his injuries.
