In a tragic turn of events, 37-year-old Deandre 'Marley' Stevenson of Suitland, a male, succumbed to his injuries on June 16, 2025, nearly two weeks after being critically wounded in a double shooting. The incident unfolded on the afternoon of June 3, 2025, inside an apartment on Regency Park Court. When Prince George's County police officers arrived at the scene, they discovered Stevenson and another man, 32-year-old Myandre McBride, both suffering from gunshot wounds.
While McBride,
also of Suitland, was pronounced dead at the scene, Stevenson was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition. He bravely fought for his life for thirteen days before ultimately passing away. His mother, Shawnita Stevenson, described her oldest son as a person full of life, laughter, and love, who had a gift for making those around him feel seen and safe.
The investigation into the double homicide quickly led to the identification and arrest of a suspect. James Stewart, a 35-year-old resident of Upper Marlboro, was taken into custody by the Prince George's County Police. Initially, Stewart was charged with the first-degree murder of Myandre McBride. Authorities have indicated that the shooting was not a random act of violence, stating that the suspect and the victims were known to each other and had been involved in an ongoing dispute.
Following Deandre Stevenson's death, the Prince George's County State's Attorney's Office is reportedly in consultation with homicide detectives to determine if additional charges will be filed against Stewart. He is currently being held in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.
