On July 29, 2025, at the Ridgeline at Canton apartment complex near Joy Road and Honeytree Boulevard in Canton Township, Michigan, Aymira Thomas, 13, female, was fatally shot. Police and Fire/EMS arrived within minutes of a 12:24 p.m. 911 call and attempted life-saving measures, but Aymira Thomas, 13, Black female, died from her injuries at the scene.
