In the summer of 1981, a 15-year-old girl named Kim Marie Larrow, a white female, vanished without a trace, leaving behind a mystery that has endured for decades. Just a week before she disappeared, Kim had moved from her father's home in Dundee, Michigan, to live with her mother in Canton. Known for her rebellious and free-spirited nature, Kim had a history of running away and hitchhiking, once even making it as far as Florida with a friend. Despite this, her family maintained that she would always eventually make contact, a call that never came after she was last seen on June 8, 1981.
On that Monday evening, Kim was at Stroh's Ice Cream Parlor in Canton, where her best friend worked. The two had made plans to meet later at Haggerty Field in Hines Park, but Kim never arrived. Days turned into a somber quiet, and she was not immediately reported missing due to her past wanderings. Her mother's reported lack of cooperation with the initial investigation further complicated the early stages of the search. As time stretched on with no word from Kim, those who knew her grew increasingly certain that this was not another instance of a teenage runaway.
The investigation into Kim Larrow's disappearance remained cold for many years. She had no driver's license and no Social Security number at the time she went missing, making it difficult to track any potential activity. A significant development wouldn't come until 2018 when authorities publicly identified a possible suspect: Arthur Ream. A convicted sexual assailant, Ream was also responsible for the 1986 murder of 13-year-old Cindy Zarzycki. While incarcerated, Ream had reportedly boasted to cellmates of having multiple victims.
