Akaysha Miller, 19, a female Black / African American from Chicago, was sitting in a parked car on the 1600 block of South Ridgeway Avenue in North Lawndale on the afternoon of May 15, 2025, when three people walked up and one opened fire. She was struck in the head and torso, rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital, and pronounced dead. The Cook County medical examiner and police identified Akaysha Miller, 19, and set the time around 2:30 p.m., marking a broad-daylight killing on a residential block.
