Lamarr Barber, 42, a Black male, was killed during a confrontation inside a business on the 7000 block of South Damen Avenue in Chicago’s West Englewood neighborhood on Friday, May 23, 2025. Shortly after 4:24–4:25 p.m., an argument inside the store escalated between Barber and two men; one of the men, described by police as 38 years old, produced a firearm and opened fire.
