Tommie L. Jones, a 28-year-old African American male, was fatally shot on October 1, 2017, in the South Shore neighborhood of Chicago, IL. The incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. when a man approached Jones and a 26-year-old woman as they stood in the 2600 block of East 75th Street. The assailant pulled out a gun and opened fire, resulting in multiple gunshot wounds to Jones' head and back. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The woman, who was shot in the back, survived the attack but sustained serious injuries.
Vincent Davidson, a 38-year-old male, was arrested on December 26, 2017, in connection with the murder of Tommie L. Jones. Davidson faced charges of first-degree murder and aggravated battery by discharge of a firearm. Initially held without bail, Davidson's bail was later reduced to $300,000 in August 2020, allowing him to be released after posting a $30,000 deposit bond.
