Kenard Milsap, a 30-year-old African American male, was fatally shot on September 24, 2022, in Chicago, Illinois. The incident occurred during a backyard gathering in the Morgan Park neighborhood, specifically in the 11800 block of South Hale Avenue. Owens then walked to his car, retrieved another handgun, and fired additional shots over a gate, hitting Milsap again. Nykee Owens was subsequently arrested and charged with one felony count of first-degree murder. He was apprehended in the 800 block of West 99th Street and held without bail. Owens' case was scheduled to be heard in court, with his next appearance set for January 4.
