Manuel Mejia Perez, 13, male, Hispanic/Latino, spent the first Monday of June walking a familiar stretch of Joliet’s southeast side before turning into the narrow alley off the 300 block of Des Plaines Street. It was June 2, 2025, late afternoon, when gunfire broke the quiet.
