An 18-year-old mixed-race female named Yoraily Santos was tragically found dead on June 18, 2025, in a Brockton, Massachusetts, apartment in what authorities have described as an apparent murder-suicide. Police were dispatched to the residence at 643 North Main Street around 5:45 p.m. after receiving a 911 call from the landlord. Upon their arrival, first responders discovered Santos on the kitchen floor with multiple gunshot wounds.
The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Starli Roa
Taveras, was located in a bedroom of the same apartment. He was found with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, and a firearm was discovered near his body. Both Santos and Taveras were pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators believe that the two were the only individuals inside the apartment at the time of the incident.
According to the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office, the investigation revealed that Santos and Taveras were in a relationship that had a history of domestic violence. A search of the apartment uncovered a Glock 19 Gen 5 firearm with an attached optic sight, an empty magazine, and one 9mm round in the chamber. Additionally, nine shell casings and seven projectiles were recovered from the scene. The landlord of the apartment building mentioned to reporters that he had not witnessed any arguments between the couple and had not seen Santos in the weeks leading up to the tragic event. The investigation into the murder-suicide is ongoing.
