E'leric Donae Lyon, a 24-year-old Black/African American woman, was shot and killed in the early hours of June 12, 2025, during a domestic incident inside a residence on the 3400 block of Clover Lane in Zion, Illinois. Police and fire crews were dispatched around 4:12 a.m., where they found Lyon and a man with gunshot wounds; Lyon was pronounced dead at the scene. The Lake County Coroner later identified her as Eleric Lyon of Beach Park and confirmed she died from multiple gunshot wounds.
Investigators determined the shooter was her boyfriend, 24-year-old Jacob Christ of Zion, who died by suicide after shooting Lyon. Authorities recovered a firearm registered to Christ, which they believe was used in the shooting. Christ was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center and pronounced dead shortly after arrival; an autopsy showed he sustained a single gunshot wound.
Police said the couple had been arguing into the morning before the violence unfolded. The case has been classified by local authorities as a suspected murder-suicide, and no arrests were made; the sole suspect, Christ, was deceased.
In the days that followed, public records and memorial pages noted Lyon's death on June 12 in Zion, aligning with the official timeline released by investigators. Community tributes and obituary listings further corroborated her identity and the date of the incident.
