In the early morning hours of August 26, 2025, the life of 38-year-old Braxton Scott was tragically cut short in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Officers responded to a report of a shooting at approximately 4:06 a.m. and discovered Scott lying in the middle of Marque Ann Drive, near Florida Boulevard, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was a native and resident of Baton Rouge.
Emergency services transported Scott to a nearby hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries shortly after
arrival. The Baton Rouge Police Department quickly launched an investigation into the deadly shooting.
Through their investigation, detectives identified Thomas King as the suspect. With the assistance of the Zachary Police Department and the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office, homicide detectives were able to locate and arrest King in Zachary.
King was subsequently booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. He faces charges of second-degree murder and illegal use of weapons in connection with the death of Braxton Scott. The investigation is ongoing.
