Malik R. Johnson, 24, a man from Chicago, was killed in an early-morning ambush on June 21, 2025. Around 2:30 a.m., he stood on a sidewalk in the 2300 block of West Roosevelt Road on the city's Near West Side when a black SUV pulled up. Three men climbed out and opened fire before jumping back into the vehicle and fleeing. Johnson suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
