Xavier David Quiroz, a 13-year-old boy from Chicago, Illinois, tragically lost his life on December 27, 2020. Xavier was standing in the 5500 block of South Archer Avenue around 9 a.m. when he was shot multiple times. He was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn with gunshot wounds to his back and shoulder, where he was pronounced dead shortly after.
Xavier was a cherished son, a loving big brother, and a seventh grader at Kinzie Elementary School.
He was known for his cute smile and kind heart, and he enjoyed playing on the basketball team at school and being a member of the Good Shepherd Presbyterian Youth Group. His death left his family and friends heartbroken, and a private memorial service was held on January 9, 2021, at Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church.
The investigation into Xavier's death is being conducted by Area One detectives as a homicide case. As of now, there have been no arrests or suspects publicly identified in connection with his murder. The community continues to mourn the loss of this young life and hopes for justice to be served.
