On April 5, 2020, in Chicago's Austin neighborhood, 31-year-old African American male Dywayne D. Head was fatally shot following an altercation over cafeteria food. The incident began around 6:15 p.m. in the cafeteria of a single-room occupancy building located in the 500 block of North Central Avenue. Head had offered to share his food with another individual, which led to an argument with 49-year-old African American male Wayne Kyles, a custodian at the building.
