Michael Shaheen Rezaee, 40, male, White/Caucasian, was shot and killed in Sunnyvale on Thursday, May 29, 2025. Around 7:42–7:45 p.m., officers responded to multiple gunshots at a residence on the 900 block of South Wolfe Road and found the 40-year-old outside with gunshot wounds. Despite lifesaving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators said early on that the suspect was known to the victim, and they asked the public for tips as they opened a homicide case.
In the hours around the shooting, an argument at the South Wolfe Road home spiraled into gunfire. Family members said that Michael Shaheen Rezaee had been protecting his girlfriend from her estranged husband and that threats and jealous confrontations had preceded the attack. A neighbor reported hearing a volley of shots, a pause, then more gunfire, and surveillance video captured the wounded man seeking help before collapsing.
Within days, Sunnyvale authorities named 44-year-old Jesus Aguilera as the suspect and warned he was armed and dangerous while detectives searched for him. On June 20, after a regional manhunt, officers arrested Aguilera in Oakland and booked him into the Santa Clara County Jail on a murder charge. The case was Sunnyvale’s first homicide of 2025, and investigators continue to document the sequence of events that led to the killing of Michael Shaheen Rezaee at his South Wolfe Road home.
