In the early evening of May 21, 2025, a sense of unease settled over the 2500 block of Lumpkin Road in Augusta, Georgia. Responding to a call, deputies from the Richmond County Sheriff's Office discovered a scene that would soon escalate to a homicide investigation. On the ground before them lay Jaquavious Watkins, a 26-year-old Black/African American male, suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
