In the spring of 2015, a dispute between neighbors in Augusta, Georgia, turned fatal, ending the life of 49-year-old Marion Levi Utley. An African American male, Utley was a known figure in his community. On the evening of May 3, 2015, on the 1600 block of Norris Lane, a verbal altercation erupted between Utley and his neighbor, 60-year-old Walter L. Johnson. The argument escalated, and tragically, it concluded with Utley suffering a gunshot wound to his chest.
