In the small community of Holmes Mill, Kentucky, the life of 54-year-old Estelle Denise Shepherd Shackleford came to a tragic end on Wednesday, July 23, 2025. A white woman, Estelle's daily life was deeply rooted in the fabric of Harlan County. That afternoon, a domestic dispute began to unfold at her home in the Closplint community, a conflict that would ultimately escalate to a devastating conclusion.
