In the early afternoon of a Saturday in Wichita, Kansas, a disturbance shattered the peace of the 4100 block of West Pine. Just before 12:30 p.m. on June 21, 2025, police were called to the scene following reports of gunshots. Upon their arrival, they discovered that a young Black/African American man, 23-year-old Sauhni Stallings, had been shot. He was privately transported to a local hospital for medical attention.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Sauhni Stallings succumbed to
his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. The Wichita Police Department immediately launched a homicide investigation into the fatal shooting. Their investigation quickly led them to a suspect in the case.
Following their investigation, officers arrested 26-year-old Michael Dixon in connection with the shooting. Dixon was taken into custody and booked on a requested charge of second-degree murder. He later made his first court appearance where he was formally charged with one count of second-degree murder and one count of criminal discharge of a firearm. His bond was set at $150,000 and he remains in custody.
