On the evening of August 20, 2021, in Pocatello, Idaho, Melissa Rogers Stoker, a 40-year-old Caucasian female, tragically lost her life. The events unfolded around 8 p.m. when a 911 call led Pocatello Police Department officers to a residence on the 2000 block of Bannock Highway. Upon arrival, they discovered the bodies of Melissa and her husband, 36-year-old Stephen Stoker, inside a vehicle.
Investigations determined that both individuals had died from gunshot wounds.
Witnesses in the vicinity reported hearing the couple engaged in an argument, which was tragically followed by the sound of two gunshots. The evidence collected at the scene led investigators to conclude that the incident was a murder-suicide.
Authorities determined that Stephen Stoker shot and killed his wife, Melissa, before turning the gun on himself. The Pocatello Police Department treated this as an isolated incident and assured the public that there was no further threat to the community. As the perpetrator was also deceased, there were no arrests made in connection with the death of Melissa Rogers Stoker.
