On June 29, 1993, 11-year-old Jeralee Underwood was abducted while collecting payments on her newspaper route in Pocatello, Idaho. James Edward Wood, a 45-year-old with a history of violent offenses, encountered Jeralee that evening. After she visited the home of Wood's friend to collect a subscription payment, Wood excused himself, claiming he was going to buy beer.
