Death by Force

David Foster, 38, a Black male, was shot during a daytime confrontation on August 1, 2025, near the intersection of 17th Avenue and Pierce Street in Gary, Indiana. Witnesses told investigators the dispute began over street parking and escalated into a fight. Foster was rushed to Methodist Hospitals’ Northlake Campus, where he was pronounced dead at 12:56 p.m.; the Lake County coroner classified the death as a homicide and listed the shooting site as the 1700 block of Pierce Street.
