In the early morning hours of January 3, 2020, the city of Gary, Indiana, recorded its first homicide of the new year. James P. Clark, a 58-year-old man, was discovered lying in the street in the 3000 block of West 9th Avenue. Responding to a call of a man down, police officers arrived to find Mr. Clark with fatal gunshot wounds.
