Erika Williams, a 41-year-old woman who was Black/African American, was killed in the pre-dawn hours of May 18, 2025. Shortly after 2:15 a.m., gunfire erupted in the parking lot of a church along the 1700 block of Northwest 38th Avenue in Lauderhill, Broward County. Responding officers found two women with gunshot wounds; Erika Williams, age 41, was pronounced dead at the scene, while the second victim was rushed to Broward Health Medical Center with injuries described as not life-threatening.
