On the evening of December 25, 2025, 36-year-old female Octavia Stewart was fatally shot during a confrontation at an apartment complex in Lauderhill, Florida, just west of Fort Lauderdale. The incident occurred shortly before 10:30 p.m. at the Sunny Lake Apartments located near the 2200 block of Northwest 56th Avenue. Residents in the area, who were enjoying holiday gatherings in the parking lot, reported hearing a loud noise resembling an explosion as the situation escalated.
