In the early hours of August 3, 2025, 25-year-old Dante Sellers, a male from La Porte, walked out of Matey’s Bar and Restaurant near Michigan City’s lakefront after an argument that had spilled through the night. As he crossed toward a parking lot entrance on Franklin Street, gunfire cracked across the darkened block. Officers rushed to the scene just after 2:30 a.m. to find Dante Sellers wounded.
