Deandre Howell, a 14-year-old Black male from Augusta, died on August 3, 2025, after gunfire tore through the Meadowbrook Drive and Deans Bridge Road area of South Augusta, turning a hot summer afternoon into a scene of panic and grief. Deputies were called to the parking lot of Advance Auto Parts at about 5:15 p.m., and authorities said four juveniles had been shot.
