On July 27, 2025, white male, Purvin L. Evans, 64, a husband and longtime Okeechobee resident, was shot and killed in the Brindaban Forest subdivision of Okeechobee, Florida. His wife, Debora Kay Long Evans, was also killed. Family obituary notices confirm that Purvin L. Evans and Debora Kay Long Evans died that day; they had spent decades rooted in the Okeechobee community.
