On July 27, 2025, white male, Purvin L. Evans, 64, a husband and longtime Okeechobee resident, was shot and killed in the Brindaban Forest subdivision of Okeechobee, Florida. His wife, Debora Kay Long Evans, was also killed. Family obituary notices confirm that Purvin L.
