In what began as a verbal dispute and tragically ended in gunfire, 34-year-old Joshua Walker, a Black male from Dacula, Georgia, lost his life. The fatal encounter unfolded on the afternoon of Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at a Chevron gas station located at 1200 Franklin Gateway SE in Marietta. An argument that had started earlier in the day between Walker and another man reignited when they crossed paths again at the gas station.
The verbal altercation quickly escalated, culminating in a
shooting. Walker sustained gunshot wounds and was rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The incident prompted a swift response from the Marietta Police Department, who arrived at the scene to find one person deceased and took a suspect into custody.
The individual arrested at the scene was identified as 24-year-old Johnathan Bailey of Savannah. Investigators believe that Bailey and Walker knew each other. Bailey was subsequently charged with felony murder and aggravated assault in connection with Walker's death. He is currently being held at the Cobb County Jail. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
