In the late morning of a Sunday in Macon, Georgia, the life of 46-year-old Nelson Reynolds Crenshaw III was tragically cut short. On August 31, 2025, Bibb County deputies responded to a call around 9:30 a.m. concerning a shooting in the vicinity of the 6000 block of Harrison Road. Upon their arrival, they discovered Crenshaw in a wooded area, unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound.
Emergency medical services were dispatched to the scene, and Crenshaw was quickly transported to the Atrium Health Navicent Medical Center for treatment. Despite the efforts of medical professionals, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at approximately 10:15 a.m. The initial investigation into the shooting began immediately, with law enforcement appealing to the public for any information that could lead to the identification of those responsible.
The investigation led to a significant development when a suspect was identified. Timothy Hurt, a 60-year-old resident of Macon, was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Taskforce in connection with Crenshaw's death. Following his arrest, Hurt was transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center. He has since been charged with murder and is being held without the possibility of bond.
