In the quiet neighborhood of Bear Valley in southwest Denver, the night of September 5, 2025, was shattered by an act of violence that claimed the life of Heather Fong, a 44-year-old Asian woman. Responding to a call just before midnight, police arrived at the 2700 block of South Fenton Street to find a grim scene unfolding. Heather had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was rushed to a nearby hospital, but her injuries proved fatal.
As officers secured the area, their investigation
led them to a second individual, Robert Fong, a 67-year-old man. He was found at the scene with what authorities would later determine was a self-inflicted gunshot wound and was pronounced dead. The Denver Office of the Medical Examiner subsequently ruled Heather's death a homicide and Robert's a suicide, pointing to a murder-suicide as the nature of the tragic event.
In the wake of the incident, the neighborhood was sealed off for hours as detectives and crime scene investigators meticulously processed the scene, working into the early morning hours. Law enforcement officials quickly assured the public that they were not seeking any other suspects in connection with Heather's death, as all evidence indicated Robert Fong was the sole perpetrator. Because the only suspect in the case died at the scene, no arrests were made, and the investigation concluded with the community mourning the loss of a life cut short by gun violence.
