Summary based on 12 sources
Edgar Gomez, 17, male, was shot and killed late on the night of September 19, 2025, on the 300 block of Cross Avenue in Salinas. Officers responding around 11 p.m. to a ShotSpotter alert and multiple 911 calls found three victims; Gomez was pronounced dead at the scene along with 20-year-old Jesus Guido Rosales, while a third 17-year-old boy suffered a gunshot wound to the leg and was expected to recover. The shooting unfolded outside a home after a brief exchange of words, according to investigators.

Within a week, police announced the arrest of 18-year-old Marwuy Camacho, who investigators say was the gunman. He was taken into custody the evening of September 24 on East Alisal Street and booked into the Monterey County Jail on two counts of murder, one count of attempted murder, and gang enhancements; authorities said the evidence suggested the attack was gang-motivated.

Days later, a second 18-year-old, Angel Cabrera, was arrested in Modesto and identified by police as the getaway driver. Cabrera was transported back to Monterey County and booked on homicide, attempted homicide, and gang-related charges; both suspects’ bail was listed at $14,230,000. Detectives credited surveillance video and community tips for the rapid progress in the case and said they continued to pursue additional leads and any other individuals who might have been involved.
