On June 15, 2023, at approximately 1:20 a.m., Salinas Police Officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert indicating gunfire in the 700 block of Garner Avenue in Salinas, California. Upon arrival, they discovered 36-year-old Luis Florez Gonzalez suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite officers' attempts at life-saving measures, Gonzalez succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
