Patricia Wheat Odoms, 65, a Black woman from Mobile, Alabama, was shot shortly after midnight on July 4, 2025, and fought for her life for nine days before dying at a local hospital on July 13. According to Mobile Police, the shooting happened around 12:30 a.m. in the 1500 block of Matzenger Drive. Family and obituary notices later identified her as Patricia Ann Wheat Odoms, known to loved ones as “Pat Wheat,” born in Mobile in 1960.
