Casarez pursued him in his vehicle, tracked him down, and fatally shot him, marking one of the key moments in the string of killings.

Authorities later reported that Laura, a 31-year-old female, may have been shot while trying to protect her father.
The spree came to an end when law enforcement encountered Casarez after the killings. Deputies ordered him to put down his weapon, but he refused and instead took his own life.
