Leigh Ann Vandiver Barton, a 27-year-old white female from Atlanta, Georgia, was tragically murdered on July 27, 1999, in what would become the beginning of one of the deadliest mass killings in Georgia's history. Leigh Ann was bludgeoned to death with a hammer by her husband, Mark Orrin Barton, while she slept in their suburban apartment in Stockbridge, Georgia.
