On a Wednesday night in Atlanta, a chain of events set in motion by a planned drug transaction would end in the tragic death of a woman named Lamisha Cullins. The incident, which unfolded on November 14, 2018, took place at a Chevron gas station located at the intersection of Pryor Road and University Avenue in the southwest part of the city. What was supposed to be a drug deal escalated into a violent shootout, leaving two people dead and one injured.
According to police reports,
Lamisha Cullins had allegedly played a role in organizing a drug sale between her 23-year-old cousin, Isaac Cullins, and another individual named Gamaya Hampton. For reasons that are not entirely clear, the situation took a deadly turn. An exchange of gunfire erupted between Isaac Cullins and Hampton, and in the chaos, Lamisha Cullins was caught in the crossfire.
When authorities arrived at the scene just before 11 p.m., they discovered three individuals with gunshot wounds. Both Lamisha Cullins and Gamaya Hampton were pronounced dead at the scene. Isaac Cullins had also been shot, but his injuries were not life-threatening. He was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital for medical treatment.
Following the incident, the Atlanta police launched an investigation. Their findings led them to identify Isaac Cullins as the primary suspect in the deaths of his cousin and Gamaya Hampton. After being treated for his injuries, Isaac Cullins was arrested and faced two counts of felony murder. He was subsequently booked into the Fulton County Jail. At the time of his arrest, it was reported that he had been out on bond for previous drug and obstruction charges.
